A photo montage of the 2017 Surrey Heath Show

You meet friends and acquaintances at the Surrey Heath Show – a pleasant diversion. As I’ve done in previous years I snapped a few items of interest at the show, as we wandered around the show.

The Woking cacti society stand held us in deep conversation for quite a while, during which we bought more cacti and succulents. At the rear of their stand they had stunning large cacti, many in bloom. However, the ones we bought were small – space is a consideration for us and our growing cacti collection.

We were happy to bump into show organiser Tony Moore, a chance to congratulate him on his being awarded a BEM. The Mayor, Cllr Valerie White, chose a 1962 Vauxhall Cresta as her pick of cars in the classic car show. Here’s my phot montage,

Here’s reprise of the Surrey Heath Show in pictures. The events in the Arena was popular as were the Dog Show, and the performances of the Camberley Youth wind Orchestra. A grand day out, as Wallace would say.

Surrey Heath Show lucky with the weather means happy visitors

Oh, how thankful the organisers of the Surrey Heath Show must feel that the weather was kind to them. I spoke with Tony Moore – the chief organiser, who said to me that even though there were doubts about the predicted weather for Saturday, cancellation wasn’t going to happen. He was proved right. Here’s my video of the show.

Enjoy volunteering at the 2016 Surrey Heath Show

Surrey Heath Borough Council has announced it’s seeking volunteers for the 2016 Surrey Heath Show,

Crowds at Surrey Heath ShowNext year, The Surrey Heath Show will take place on Frimley Lodge Park on 30 April 2016.  The Surrey Heath Show is an annual event designed to offer interest and fun to all the family. The show consists of perennial favourites, such as the companion dog show, children’s rides, classic cars, military vehicles, and arena events.

The Surrey Heath Show team are currently recruiting a variety of volunteers with an array of skills to lend a hand with next year’s show. They are looking for Committee Members, Dog Show Assistants, Catering Assistants and General Assistants.

As a Committee Member you would assist in the organisation and smooth running of The Surrey Heath Show.  The committee meets monthly between September and May, meaning you would need to be available to attend these meetings.

As a Dog Show Assistant you would share in the organisation and running of the companion dog show which is held on the day.  This has always been a successful element of the show attracting an entry of over two hundred dogs.  Ideally the person(s) should have a working knowledge of dog show running.  It is a fun show attracting entries for both the pedigree and novelty classes.

The show runs its own BBQ and is looking for volunteers who can offer to lend a pair of hands with this. If catering isn’t your area of expertise and you can spare a couple of hours on the day of the show, your help would be most welcome with tasks such as handing out programmes and assisting with the parking of the stall holders.

If you are interested in any of these roles, please contact the Surrey Heath Show via email on surreyheathshow@gmail.com
