The sarsen stone on the Maultway has been moved, and I missed it

The sarsen stone on the Maultway was moved this morning. Having an extra slice of toast with ginger preserve, and lingering over a second cup of tea, meant that when I turned up to view the event it had already happened.

A kind Skanska site manager has shared his photos of the event. He’s the man in my photo of him next to the stone.

All’s well that ends well, don’t you think.

  1. Thanks for posting the photographs Tim, it certainly makes up for missing it live, although given how cold it was this morning, the photographs were the best option I think. I must say, I’m with Paul on this, I was expecting the base to have been a lot further down. Now, wouldn’t it be nice to have a blue plaque posed nearby detailing the origins of the stone as an historical point of interest. I’m intrigued though Tim, how can you resist the urge to paint it white and turn it into a mile stone 🙂
