A riveting day in the Tour de France yesterday. A stage that ripped the tour apart. Being a short stage it offered many riders a chance of victory, although those strong at mountain climbing were favourite.
Yet again I’d predicted Chris Froome as a stage winner, and was wrong yet again. Although I can draw some comfort from my side bet on Romain Bardet, who duly won, and won well.
Team Sky and Chris Froome are, methinks, playing a long game, where Froome isn’t looking for stage wins, just overall victory.
My thoughts on Day 14 stage are that it’s a stage for a courageous sprinter. It’s a long uphill drag to the finish. Perhaps Edvard Boasson Hagen, or Andre Greipel who needs to recover from a disappointing tour so far, might fancy their chances. So, I’m plumping for Boassan Hagen.
