Wow, yesterday’s stage of the Tour de France was an absolute corker. Ok, for much of the time it was a procession behind Team Sky, but Steve Cummings attempt to solo win the stage was brave, though eventually fruitless.
My predictions were rubbish, as per normal. Neither did Steve Cummings win the stage, nor did Chris Froome retain the overall lead. Chris blew up some 100 metres from the finish line and was beaten by six riders.
My thoughts for day 13 of the tour are that Team Sky will regroup, and let other teams take over leadership of the race. They will make every effort to enable Chris Froome to stay with the new race leader. It’s now a battle between a few riders, Fabio Aru, Chris Froome, Roman Bardet, Rigoberto Urran, and Daniel Martin. Today is the key to winning the tour.
So, who will win today’s stage? Does Chris Froome have it in him to recover, or will a Frenchman – Roman Bardet – win on Bastille Day? My money is on Chris Froome.
