Le Tour Day 8: My thoughts

In yesterday’s stage of the Tour de France there was a breakaway by four riders. They were never, however, going to succeed, and were caught with 3 kilometres to go. It did add interest to an otherwise quiet day on the tour. That is until the excitement and craziness of the bunch sprint.

Gosh, I was spot on with my stage winner yesterday. Andre Greipel was the favourite, and duly won. So, can’t say I was particularly perspicacious, as Greipel was the clear favourite.

Today’s stage, being the first of mountain stages, is exceptionally difficult to call. With tommorrow’s absolutely huge mountain stage, the race leaders will be cautious about expending too much energy on the stage. Hence, it’s a stage for strong riders to challenge for a stage victory – and heck there’s a lot of them.

My thoughts on the likely winner, pick anyone from Steve Cummings, Thibaut Pinot, Pierre Rolland, or even Thomas Voeckler in his last tour. My choice is, oh, I can’t decide. Ok, it’s Voeckler, with a side bet on Cummings.
