Arriving at the Bisley Strawberry Fayre on Sunday 25th June we found a space in the Shaftesbury Road car park adjacent to the A322. Our resulting happy state continued during the afternoon of the Fayre. It seemed to us that the event was bigger this year, and attracted more visitors – just what they need to help fund improvements to the Bisley Village Hall.
My signal failure, again this year, to win anything on the Human Fruit Machine. Never mind, it’s simple fun. Refreshment came from the hog roast with stuffing and apple sauce, plus a pint of Hog’s Back TEA. I read in the programme that the Barrett/Porter family, who provided the hog roast, are moving away from the area. We’re among those who the programme notes ‘are sorry to see them go’.
Three Strawberry Fayre stalwarts, the Almac Bisley Brass Band, Leanne Edwards School of Theatre Arts, and the Chobham St Lawrence Morris provided the entertainment. Each of their performances was much enjoyed by the visitors.
Oh, and we got to chat to our MP – the Rt Hon Michael Gove. As we left I chucked some money into the bucket of the Silver Human Statue, and Jany received the thanks from her. Here’s my photo montage of the Fayre.
