Oh, I did have a chuckle at this.
The Sun reports on a stunt to “mark the countdown for the World Pie Eating Championships, which are to be held on December 20 at at Harry’s Bar in Wigan town centre”.
The stunt is “a specially-commissioned pie was sent for lift-off from the grounds of the Fifteens at The Fox pub after getting permission from the Civil Aviation Authority. The pie was attached to a high-altitude weather balloon in a bid to reach 100,000 ft.”
Harry’s Bar owner Tony Callaghan said: “Interestingly, NASA didn’t want to know about this, so we got a couple of lads from Sheffield to sort it instead.”
