Looking back to remembrance services in recent times I can only remember the service being bathed in sunlight. It seems that the numbers grow each year, as do the number of youngsters from Guides, Cubs and Scouts.
I know comparisons are odious when looking at remembrance events. I’ve been to many – all equally moving and special in their own way. I think it’s the combination of the War Memorial’s simple setting, the procession from All saints’ Church, the children, the wonderful Bagshot Band, and having the War Memorial surrounded by people, which gives Lightwater’s Remembrance service it’s uniqueness.
