A village celebrates its butchers 60th anniversary

I’ve written recently about popping into George Arthur Butchers in Lightwater to apologise for our being away and not being able to attend their 60th anniversary party. I didn’t go into detail in that article. This puts that right.

During a conversation with the lovely John Dickinson about the event, and other stuff, he said that they weren’t sure how many people would turn up for their celebratory bash, and were mightily pleased at how many people joined the party.

John also described his recent visit to the Netherlands and their butchering methods and butchers shops. Quite a difference if you want to know – best ask John about it, as I’m not sure I’ll be accurate in retelling his views.

I also asked John if he’d any photos of the 60th anniversary event that I could post here. Always helpful, of course, and here they are, including my photo of John in his snazzy new uniform. Click on images to expand.
