We attended the Egham Royal Show reception yesterday evening, which was held in the Picture Gallery at Royal Holloway, Univ of London. Here’s a photo of Prof Rob Kemp, Vice Principal, welcoming everyone, Egham Royal Show President – Nick Wood-Dow DL [on left], and Cllr Alan Alderson the Mayor of Runnymede [on right].
I always enjoy a chance to visit the picture gallery. There are three of its pictures in my Painting of the Week series,
- The Railway Station by William Powell Frith
- The Babylonian Marriage Market by Edwin Long
- Piazza dei Signori, Verona by James Holland
Not forgetting the purpose of the evening was to thank the volunteers of the Egham Royal Show. It’s in its 158th year this year, and is a lovely traditional show, with activities and interest for everyone. Oh, and it has easy car parking – always an issue for popular events.
