The simple pleasure of sitting in the garden reading a book

Donna LeonYesterday was ‘scorchio’. Too hot to do very much. Pressing garden duties were forgotten as I picked up a detective crime novel – Friends in High Places by Donna Leon.

It was such an engaging and enjoyable read that I sat in our garden and read the book from cover to cover. Although, I should say the last chapter or two was completed in our conservatory, as the hastening evening gloom brought me inside.

Just a lovely day of the simple pleasure of relaxing with a good book. Must do this more often – though it does depend on our unpredictable weather. Last week I was even considering turning our central heating on.
