A photo report of Lightwater’s Fayre in the Square on Saturday

I didn’t get to Lightwater’s Fayre in the Square in time to catch Lightwater Councillor John Winterton and current Mayor of the Borough opening the Fayre.

Numbers at the Fayre were low, no doubt due to the clash with the Bagshot Village. The Fayre organisers – the Lightwater Business Association [LBA], promise that this won’t happen in future. They can be excused for very valid reasons of big changes to their committee.

Even though numbers were down on previous Fayres, the weather was kind, being warm and sunny, and the students of Rebekah’s Dance School, sang and danced up a storm. It’s pleasing that the LBA and the Fayre has the support of the Co-op, through their new permanent manager Stephen McGirr. Here’s my photo record of the Fayre – click on images to expand.

  1. Rather unusual, the mayor “opened” the fair a long time after the 9am time on the flyer, quite a few (like me) had been & left before his speech. And the “food and tasting” stalls didn’t happen. I was advised that Mike Duffy used to get some of his local suppliers to attend, which probably won’t happen with the Coop, as like most major stores they probably have only what head office send.
