Visiting a museum that takes me back to my youth

I’m a Wulfrunian. That’s someone from Wolverhampton. My early career was in the steel industry. Huge fun, and rewarding being part of manufacturing. The steel industry in the West Midlands is almost gone. The blast furnace in Bilston is no more, steel tube making in Wednesfield no more also. Chain making is no more.

There is an absolutely terrific museum where many of these lost local industries, such as nail making, chain forging, steel re-rolling, and more, are demonstrated. It’s the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley. Here’s my short video of  chain link forging and a short photo montage.
