The organisers originally planned to have a heritage steam train haul the express. Shame, old steam trains aren’t as reliable as modern engines, the steam engine is being replaced with two historic diesel engines. This is the note on the Steam Dreams website,
*Please be aware that owing to the recent news of delays in the overhaul of 6201 ‘Princess Elizabeth’ the locomotive will not be completed in time for this trip. We had organised a reserve locomotive, Galatea, which was accepted by Network Rail however Galatea subsequently developed a fault and has been withdrawn from the trip.
Aaargh, I was so looking forward to improving my steam train photography skills, after the miserable failure last time. The photo was my very best photo of The Cathedrals Express in December 2014.
