A case of visual influences, perhaps

Apologies. I’m having a serious case of photographic envy this week, and the infection is going to last all of this week.

In this photo, from the second group of photos in 1931 Moscow, in my previous article, I’m imaging that the photographer had a visual memory of Seurat’s Bathers at Asnières . I wonder whether you agree with me?

The caption of this photo is in Cyrillic, for which I have no translation, other than it’s in a group of photos described as in Moscow 1931, now residing in a Californian Museum.

Here’s Seurat’s Bathers at Asnières, with a link HERE to my article on this picture – my favourite.

  1. As a photographer myself, I see a lot of similarities between these two pictures. The light and the atmosphere (tranquility) is the same..I believe that the season, the light ( time of day), is the same in both pictures.
