Are you ready for the Big Garden Birdwatch? Updated

Garden birdsComing up on Saturday 30th, and Sunday 31st January is the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch weekend.

Naughtily, we’ve let our bird seed store run down. Now’s the time to stock up again. Suet logs are popular with our small garden birds, also attracting ungainly feeders such as Jackdaws and Crows.

We’re especially pleased when the Great Spotted Woodpeckers visit, who, like drunks, spill more than they eat, which helps the Robins, Dunnocks, Sparrows, Doves, and Pigeons feed on their dropped food.

I know what’ll happen when I go to get more bird food, I’ll end up with yet another bird feeder.

UPDATE: Got carried away with bird feeder enthusiasm and bought four new feeders. Hey, ho.
