UPDATED: Big hurrah for Guildford Road resurfacing, and Ambleside Road works to follow

Duty done, I’ve visited the Guildford Road resurfacing works. Delighted that they’re taking place, and even more pleased to see the notice up that Ambleside Road resurfacing will follow next week. It was good to see all of the manhole covers being repositioned.

Here’s a curiosity, when I looked into the manhole in the centre of Guildford Road at its junction with Ambleside Road, expecting to find water or such, I saw nothing. Whether drainage, or sewage, I don’t know. It’s certainly not in use. Odd.  Here’s my photo record of the works at midday today.

UPDATE: Wow, lovely job, and completed in one day.

  1. Yes, I posted earlier about Ambleside – good news, altho spanning a weekend will be a protracted pain … (?)

  2. The newly designed roundabout (complete with arrows indicating direction of travel for those who still don’t quite grasp the concept) has made absolutely no difference to the morning traffic heading right off the Guildford Road. They all still avoid the roundabout completely! Council missed a trick here and could have sorted out the problem.

  3. And I always thought that was what the game was, to miss or go over the 3 “roundabouts”, (that before the resurfacing were lumpabouts), when entering Lightwater from the Gordon School direction !!!!!.
