Thanks to Surrey Heath County Councillor Chris Pitt for passing on the details of this information about predicted severe traffic delays due to repairs to water supply pipe on the A30 in Bagshot. Here’s the content of the announcement by Surrey Highways,
Reason: Affinity Water will be undertaking an extensive mains replacement programme along the London Road, A30 through the Bagshot area. This section of fresh water supply pipe work has a significant leak history and the installation of new durable plastic pipe work and will secure supplies of clean safe tap water to its customers now and in the future.
Works will be in the carriageway and a variety of traffic management measures will operate to ensure the safety of the public and operatives on site. These will include the use of two way and at times multi way temporary traffic signals and some minor road closures. Advance warning signs will be erected at suitable locations and a letter drop to local residents will be carried out.
Extent of works: The works limits will be from the junction with the A322 through to approximately Notcutts garden centre although only sections of this total length will be worked on at any one time. A total length of approximately one mile. Whilst every effort will be made to limit disruption, the use of two way or multi way temporary signals will delay journey times
Highway impact: Significant traffic impact with delays can be expected.
Duration of works: Work will start early January 2014 continuing through for approximately 4 months
