Heritage Open Days run from Thursday through to Sunday. This is the link to events in Surrey.
This list shows three events in Surrey Heath, although there are four available, which are all worthy of a visit,
- Bagshot Chapel, Chapel Lane, Bagshot, GU19 5BP
- St Michael’s Church, London Road, Camberley, GU15 3HD
- Surrey Heath Museum, Surrey Heath House, Knoll Road, Camberley, GU15 3HD
- The Heritage Gallery, Obelisk Way, Camberley, GU15 3SG – features displays and reference material from over 40 local clubs and societies. It is open 11 to 4, on Saturday, free admission.
From past visits I can recommend Carshalton Water Tower, they offered a nice line in cake and tea, which always helps to make a worthwhile visit. For the truly odd, I also recommend the British Railways Electrical Control Room in Woking, although I should say it’s really a boys-type visit. There’s also Hogs Back Brewery to visit, which I highly recommend. Their TEA ale is a delight, a tasting of which shouldn’t be missed.
Anyway, there are over 330 places in Surrey alone, add in Hampshire and sussex, then your s;poiled for choice. If you know of a great visit, do let me know. Sadly we’ll only have Sunday as our opportunity for a visit, as we’ve got preparations for the West End show on Friday, and the show itself on Saturday.
