We attended Buddha Purnima, Buddha’s Birthday celebration at the Rivermead Centre in Reading on Saturday, at the invitation of The Buddhist Community Centre UK, where lama Dupsing Rinpoche presided. I attended Buddha Jayanti’s 2555th and 2556th birthday festivals, which were held at the Bisley Pavilion in Bisley. You can see that I like these events and the people.
Buddha Purnima is the most sacred festival for Buddhists. The Nepali community in the UK has a large community of Buddhists, even though for Nepalis, Hinduism is the most popular religion. Organising this festival brings the south east of England Nepali community together. To know more about the Nepali community in the UK, I recommend THIS book.
