Back in September I reported that I’d submitted two written questions about plans for safety works on Red Road. Yesterday evening I attended the meeting of the Surrey Heath Local Committee to get the answer to those questions.
This is the written reply, which I also asked to have in verbal summary at the meeting.
“An order has been raised to replace the missing chevrons, and is anticipated that these will be installed within the next 28 days, and in advance of the additional safety works forming part of the Safety Engineer scheme for Red Road that will be completed by the end of this financial year.”
“The safety Engineering scheme includes the implementation of a speed limit reduction to 50mph, and the introduction of additional Vehicle Activated Signs and a further chevron facing Westbound.”
This is good news. To get this action, I’m happy to acknowledge the considerable support from local police, and other borough and county councillors. I’ll watch out for when the work is being done, and report back to you.
