Lemmy relates the history of heavy metal to Texans

Subjects on which I know a bit are few. Naturally they include Lightwater, but also the Wolves glory years, and the Black Country’s place in the history of rock music [I’m from Wolverhampton you see].

So, it was a delight today to read, in today’s Daily Telegraph Arts page article on Pop by Emma Sutton, that Lemmy – lead singer of rock group Motörhead – expounded on the roots of heavy metal rock in the Black Country to an audience in Austin, Texas. Top man that Lemmy. Ace of Spades by Motörhead is in my list of Top Ren rock anthems.

In case you’re wondering, here are the names of a few the bands with Black Country Roots, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath. Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin can be seen at Wolves matches. Roots, they’re important things as I’ve said many times before.
