No need to tell you about the lovely weather accompanying the, potentially last, RLC Corps Day at Dettingen Field in Deepcut. My short slideshow tells the story.
The RLC Corps weekend celebrated 20 years of the formation of the Royal Logistic Corps, beginning with a Beating the Retreat cocktail party, the Corps Day on Saturday, and a Combined Service with the RAOC Association in St Barbara’s Garrison Church on Sunday.
I spoke with Mike Dalley, editor of The Sustainer, we both had regrets that this would probably be the last time a Corps day is held at Deepcut. Although we’ve still got the Christmas Concerts of the Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Logistic Corps to look forward to on 5-7th December, at the Tela Theatre, Princess Royal Barracks.
We left the Corps Day as the bands were playing, as the RLC 20th Anniversary Ride Out members were arriving and entering the arena. The Surrey Branch of the Royal British Legion organised the Anniversary Ride Out from Dunsfold Park Airfield to Deepcut, with past and serving members of the RLC. We were sorry to have missed their Mounted Revved Salute.
