Investment in road maintenance in Surrey Heath

Yesterday evening the Surrey Heath Local Committee met at St Anne’s Church Centre in Bagshot. See HERE for the Agenda.

Not able to attend meant I missed asking questions about Red Road, which is my normal subject at these meetings. The meeting considered two reports on road maintenance in Surrey Heath,

  • Project Horizon, about a 5 year plan to spend an additional £8million replacing, improving and repairing roads in Surrey Heath.
  • A Highways Update from Andrew Milne the Area Highways Manager for North West Surrey.

Looks like the ‘washboard’ road surface on Guildford Road in Lightwater, near the junction with Ambleside Road is due for replacement in 2014/15. The report quotes 195 metres of road repair between Lightwater Road and Ambleside Road.

Oddly this stretch of road is also mentioned for repair in the Highways Update, quoting £24,700 to be spent on localised structure repair on Guildford Road between Lightwater Road and Ambleside Road.

Perhaps someone will tell me I’ve misunderstood things.

UPDATE: Knew someone would help me out. Speedicus Triplicatum comments,

“The Highways Update refers to the spend in the event – quote –  of the Toshiba roundabout scheme not proving deliverable, the capital budgets can be used for projects in Table 3 – which includes this line item:-

Guildford Road 24,700 From Lighwater Road to Ambleside Road”

I’m most grateful to Speedicus. My speed reading needs massive improvement. Perhaps, just reading would be better.

  1. The Highways Update refers to the spend in the event – quote – of the Toshiba roundabout scheme not proving deliverable, the capital budgets can be used for projects in Table 3 – which includes this line item:-

  2. Thanks Speedicus, I guess my speed reading was a failure, since I missed understanding the topic. Must try harder.
