Saving Henry Moore’s cooling towers

I’m all for securing important industrial design for future generations with a listing by English Heritage, especially those items that were part of the industrial revolution.

But as the Independent on Sunday reports, saving the Didcot power station cooling towers because of the marginal involvement of the famous sculptor Sir Henry Moore, I don’t think so.

I briefly researched the extent of Sir Henry Moore’s involvement in the design of the Didcot power station cooling towers. I found some evidence, but not enough to credit him with their design. Guess the arguments will rage all over again, about the extent of his involvement, especially when the Independent on Sunday chooses the headline, “Henry Moore’s cooling towers under threat”.
