Cattle grazing improves the heathland

I wondered how long it would be before I encountered grazing cattle on the local lowland heathland.

Not long as it turns out. Walking over Folly Bog and Hangmoor I met them on the path. Initially they were to be seen some distance away from the path in the boggy area. Now they can be met on the path and alongside the path, doing great work munching on the invasive scrub, such as willow and purple moor grass.

The Belted Galloway cattle are friendly souls, and anything that improves the heathland heather cover, such as cattle grazing, is fine by me.
