Camberley Judo Club members join TeamGB for Olympics

Splendid news. Three of Camberley Judo Club’s Elite Team are selected to join Team GB for the London Olympics. There’s also great news that Camberley head coach – Luke Preston, is selected as Olympic team coach. Camberley Judo Club announce:

Danny Williams, Winston Gordon and Karina Bryant are to represent their country at the upcoming London Olympics. With the Team GB judo team consisting of 14 players in total, to have 3 players based at the club in the team is a huge honour. A fourth member of the team, Tom Davis, is also selected as Olympic reserve-in itself a great achievement.”

Although Surrey Heath doesn’t have the Olympic torch coming through our Borough, we do have these Olympians from our Borough. Of whom we should be proud. I’ll be following the judo competition [on TV sadly] and cheering madly. The Team GB website says this about Judo,

“Although Judo is a martial art, its practice and methods are based around gentleness. Giving way to the strength of the opponent, adapting to and using it to your advantage will achieve victory over the opponent.”

From having seen Karina on the dojo, is to understand that definition perfectly.
