Nepali Connections exhibition

Tonight we’re at the private view of Surrey Heath Museum’s latest exhibition – Nepali Connections. We’re also attending the launch event on Saturday from 11.am to 2.0pm.

This exhibition is a significant event, celebrating Nepali life and customs. The Museum says,

“We are focusing on Nepal, the Gurkha’s, people’s experiences of settling in this country, Nepalese culture, economy and landscape. The exhibition features an array of objects from local Nepalese, photographs and film footage of Nepal, a model comparing the landscape of Nepal and Surrey Heath, a part recreated mountain hut plus much, much more.”

I’ve recently read ‘Nepalis in the United Kingdom: An Overview’ edited by Krishna Adhikari, and published by the Centre for Nepal Studies United Kingdom. It’s full of interesting facts about the Nepali community in the UK. Notably Surrey Heath, has the third highest number of Nepalese in the UK, making it appropriate that we have this exhibition.

Should be a fun evening and launch day tomorrow. Full report to follow.
