Artistic design of Didcot A cooling towers

Have spotted this tweet from Ed Vaizey, MP for Wantage & Didcot,

Now, that’s something I didn’t know. That Didcot A power station cooling towers were laid out by famous sculptor Henry Moore. These cooling towers are wonderfully photogenic, especially on still cold bright days with the steam rising vertically. There’s an interesting flickr stream, with a beautiful photo by Lauren Tucker, sadly protected by copyright. There’s a variety of views on the topic of demolishing the towers in the HERALD.
