The generosity of people

It seems an age ago now, but Christmas was less than a month ago. Before Christmas we joined Camberley Ex Round Table 41 Club members outside Longacres, collecting for their chosen charities. While we there for a few hours, they were there all weekend.

I was impressed with their collecting zeal, especially their specially rigged trailer. When we arrived we were welcomed by a disembodied voice over the public address system. It took a while to realise that Father Christmas was speaking to us from the chimney on their trailer. I met Nigel Long of Longacres while outside and thanked him for generously letting people collect for charity.

Purely for photographic purposes I joined Father Christmas in the chimney. I couldn’t compete with Father Christmas’s amusing commentary.Yesterday I learned that the Mayor’s Charity is to receive £1350 from their efforts, which is magnificent. They’re giving equivalent amounts to their other nominated charities. The generosity of people never ceases to amaze. The photograph below show us receiving a £5 note each from two young boys. Absolutely heart-warming and life reaffirming.
