Odd subject, I agree, and not an easy subject to talk about. Me and the memsahib’s view on leaving legacies is to support charities that wholly rely, for their income, on legacies and donations. Our two are, the RNLI [who've this month received a magnificent legacy] and the National Trust. Can’t be doing with organisations that employ ‘chuggers‘.
What caused this post, well, there’s a pertinent report – Lost along the way - by the TaxPayers’ Alliance that’s worth a thought or two. Their report claims that almost 18% of the UK’s development aid, channeled through charities and the like, is wasted on non-frontline administration. While Burning Our Money rightly sees these £multi-million aid funds, and other government funding, as undermining charities ethos.
