The Surrey Heath Museum Action Group is the driving force behind the opening of The Heritage Gallery in Camberley’s Mall shopping centre, which was officially opened this morning by Surrey Heath’s MP, Michael Gove.
Brief speeches from Clare Nobbs, Chairman of the action group, committee member Phil Stevens, and Cllr Wynne Price preceded Michael Gove’s cutting of the ribbon. They are in that order in the picture, with Michael Gove, scissors in hand.
It’s a terrific effort from SHMAG and all the volunteers involved. Pity in none of the speeches did anyone think to thank our excellent museum curator, Sharon Cross, provider of the majority of the Gallery’s exhibits. The Gallery is exceptionally lucky to have Sharon’s support, as well as that of Glen Fulton of the Mall in providing the shop premises at no cost. Sure, it’s an added attraction in the Mall, but it’s still a courageous step to take by the Mall.
