Here’s a bit of half-term fun using the giant Google search engine.
I’ve used a serious subject for my example – Flooding and Flood Defence, but you can choose more fun items, say football teams – footballers, and so on.
Try Googlefight.
It lets you pit two words against each other, to see which has more references on Google – should keep the kids diverted for a moment or two, and best not to look over their shoulders at the words they choose.
Try the same with Google Trends.
It offers more information, letting you track the frequency of specific searches over the past few weeks or months. It also lets you see the top ten searches of the moment.
While there’s a fun side to this, Google Trends at least tells you what interests the ordinary person.
