In the Camberley News today, Thursday 20th, is news of a farmers’ market in Camberley High Street. I know this has been talked of for some time, but to read that the whole ground floor of the former Allders store is to be used for an indoor farmers’ market is excellent news for shoppers and shopkeepers in Camberley.
The market is being run by Farmers’ City Market. Looks like Camberley is in on the ‘ground floor’ of a new trend, as it’s only their second indoor farmers’ market.
Interestingly, they plan to be open seven days a week.
Now, how about doing something with the remaining floors of the old Allders store – perhaps a creative village, or graphic design village, or even an enterpise village for new business start-ups – then the centre of Camberley would really be really buzzing.

I think it would be a great idea to have some handmade crafts and gift shops on the other floors. The high street is so boring at the moment and everything is the same, it would be lovely to see unique gifts and even fashion available.

Beth,
Agreed. Variety and vitality available from small, professional and committed retailers would, as you say, liven up Camberley.
