Around midday yesterday, I made a snap decision to join Surrey Heath Museum’s excellent Mary Bennett for a Hertitage Open Day guided tour of Camberley’s Obelisk tower.
Sitting on a high point behind the Council offices in Knoll Raod, just four people joined Mary for a stroll up the hill and to listen to her describe the facinating history behind the Obelisk.
The Obelisk is no great shakes in itself, but as the reason to listen to a great story, well told, it’s well worth all the efforts to maintain it.
It’s history is described in detail in Surrey Heath’s Museum website HERE.
Not every snap decision works out as well as this one, but then it was such a beautiful sunny day, I just couldn’t stay in my office any longer.
